5 Signs the Pain in Your Shoulder is From Your Neck

November 28, 2017

Most people have a hard time figuring out if their pain is from their neck, shoulder, elbow, etc.  With a proper assessment and evaluation, this can be quickly figured out and a customized plan generated to treat the source of the pain.  I have listed below a list of 5 common signs the pain in your shoulder is coming from your neck.

1)  On days you have worse pain in the shoulder, you also have significantly increased difficulty turning your head.

2)  On days you have worse pain in the shoulder, you also notice pain extending down past the shoulder into the upper arm and possibly down into the forearm.

3)  You notice occasional shooting pain into the shoulder and/or down the arm.

4)  You have pain into the shoulder blade and the all too infamous "knots" between your shoulder blades. (where do they come from anyways?)

5)  You have numbness into the shoulder and/or down the arm even sometimes into the hand.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you could possibly be having referred pain from the neck.  You owe it to yourself to get it checked out by a professional and get started on the right activities to get the pain better, prevent it from getting worse, and to prevent it from coming back.
